HIGH-SPEED DIGITAL SIGNAL GENERATION

Project description:

Are you passionate about technology? So are we!
To strengthen our team of experts at our client in the wireless and communications industry, we are seeking a Digital Hardware (Platform) & Device Expert (m/f/x) for a full-time position at K-tronik.
We look forward to meeting you in person—and to working together with passion and team spirit on exciting projects and cutting-edge technologies.

Tasks:

  • Subproject Lead for Hardware (Electronics): Providing technical leadership to a small team, planning and managing work packages, and taking responsibility for results, deadlines, and progress.
  • Design and develop digital architecture: Develop and evaluate architectural decisions (including FPGA, SoC, ADC/DAC, e.g., JESD204B) and consolidate them into a viable system design—even when technical requirements are uncertain or still open.

Develop platform, module, and device concepts in collaboration with the technical project manager and architects, and build in-depth knowledge of the overall system (ideally including fundamental RF measurements such as power and spectrum).

  • Take responsibility for and document multi-board and platform architecture, including the interfaces between hardware and software (board-to-board, control, power supply); contribute ideas regarding the analog/digital front end and the connection of the RF front end to the digital section.
  • Coordinate collaboration between the hardware, firmware, and software teams together with the other architects and prepare sound architectural decisions.
  • Be responsible for device integration and verification; coordinate integration, production, and verification milestones between hardware and software as well as with the production subproject management.
  • Create or maintain product specifications, test procedures, and data sheets; manage and take responsibility for device-related approvals (quality gates).
  • Assess the feasibility, effort, and risk of concepts and provide transparent feedback to the technical project manager; if there are impacts on deadlines, budget, or escalations, also report to the overall project management.

Qualifications:

  • A degree in electrical engineering, communications engineering, or a comparable field, with several years of relevant professional experience.
  • Proven experience in multi-board and platform hardware architecture (concept, partitioning, interfaces).
  • Hands-on experience with high-speed analog/digital front-ends (baseband processing up to approximately 50 Gbit/s).
  • Broad understanding of architectural design decisions (FPGA, SoC, ADC/DAC, e.g., JESD204B) to develop and evaluate system designs.
  • Understanding of FPGAs and ARM; sufficient to professionally manage firmware packages and interfaces.
  • Solid knowledge of power management.
  • Proficiency in interface definition and documentation (ICD) as well as with typical board-to-board and control interfaces.
  • Experience in device integration and verification, as well as in handling quality gates and approval processes at the device level.

Willingness to take on platform architecture and device responsibility in a single role, to proactively shape digital architecture, and to handle uncertain or as-yet-undefined technical requirements (new development).

  • Analytical, conceptual approach to work (assessing and documenting feasibility, effort, and risk).
  • Fluent German; good written and spoken English.

Preferred

  • Experience with military supply requirements (e.g., MIL-STD-1275E).
  • Experience leading hardware development initiatives and coordinating external firmware teams.
  • Experience in defense, aerospace, or similarly regulated hardware projects.
  • Experience with typical digital components such as channelizers and equalizers.
  • Understanding of mixed-signal processing, particularly the interface between the RF front end and the digital section.
