Project description:
As a Design Engineer, you will play a critical role in the design and integration of AC drives. You will collaborate with various engineering disciplines, ensure regulatory compliance and performance, manage suppliers, perform lab testing, and assist with documentation and development of production processes.


Tasks:

  • Design, integration and test of AC drives for the Lilium Jet propulsion and actuation system
  • Collaborate with electrical, control, power electronics, software, and mechanical engineers
  • Contribute to system engineering and ensure compliance with safety standards
  • Manage suppliers for externally procured equipment and select appropriate hardware
  • Performing laboratory testing, optimizing AC drive performance, and supporting system validation
  • Preparation of technical documentation and compliance with standards (e.g. ARP4754, DO-160)
  • Supporting the development of production processes and standardization
  • Handle ad hoc tasks such as preparation of analysis reports, requirements, and wiring diagrams

Skills:

  • M.Sc./Eng. or Ph.D. in electrical engineering, power electronics, mechatronics, or a related field
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in AC drive design and development, including AC motor control methods (FOC, DTC, etc.), inverter design, and servo controls
  • Hands-on experience in testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning AC drives, embedded software, and sensors
  • High motivation to build structures and processes
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Fluent knowledge of English

another plus is:

  • Experience with high-voltage DC networks, EMC, grounding and bonding
  • Experience with Matlab/Simulink, C programming and Python
  • Knowledge of semiconductor technology
  • Experience with requirements management tools such as Siemens Polarion or IBM Rational DOORS
  • Fluent German language skills
